Geotag Your Instagram

One of the easiest strategies to put into place can actually help you have a better chance of appearing in the story of the larger encompassing area. 

To begin, make sure your tagging locations on Instagram. When you do, always tag a specific spot.

Say you’re walking around the North Beach district in San Francisco. Rather than tagging “North Beach”, tag a specific business that you’re visiting or passing by. 

Getting on a location story will likely get YOUR story 100-200 more views. Unfortunately, if your content is no good, it will rarely turn into more followers.

To make this work, you need to get your story standing out. Turn your camera around, get in the video and talk directly to your audience. You can even put a teaser in your story for your latest post or giveaway and coax people to your profile.

You don’t have to be eating at any specific restaurant or staying at a fancy hotel to tag it. Instead, you could stand out front or even in the lobby and talk about the time you met someone famous there and got an autograph only to forget it in the cab later on. The point is to get creative, get personal and tag somewhere specific.


It’s simple, actionable, and free. Now, you can’t expect your Instagram to explode overnight, but give it a try for a few weeks and see what happens.
